RULES FOR THE COMPOSITION OF THE ED BioSPC THESIS JURY

Article 18 of the new decree of May 25, 2016 provides a framework for the composition of thesis juries. In practice, the rules governing the composition of the BioSPC jury are as follows:

– The jury is made up of 4 to 8 members

– Rapporteurs must hold the HDR diploma.

– The two rapporteurs must be from outside BioSPC and Université Paris Cité.

– At least half the members of the jury must be from outside BioSPC and Université Paris Cité.

– At least half the members of the jury must be professors or equivalent.

– The president is elected by the jury, writes the report and must be a professor or equivalent (e.g. Director of Research).

– We ask you to aim for parity between men and women.

– It is recommended that at least one member of the jury belong to Université Paris Cité, but this is not an obligation.

NB: It is imperative to read the Note on the composition of the jury and the choice of rapporteurs.

Points to watch

1/ Since the Institut Pasteur-Paris joined the Université Paris Cité, doctoral students defending their thesis within the BioSPC 562 doctoral school can no longer take on the role of rapporteur for the HDRs attached to the Institut Pasteur-Paris, as they are considered internal members.

2/ Members of the Individual Monitoring Committee (CSI) may sit on the thesis defense juries of doctoral students being monitored as examiners or guests, but may not act as rapporteurs.

Do you have a question about thesis confidentiality?

All information on thesis confidentiality and embargoes is available on the University’s website.
